Init Script Systems


The init script system is defined by whatever /sbin/init runs to bring the system up.


System V (and Debian)
/etc/init.d/rcS at system startup
/etc/init.d/rc  to change runlevel


BSD
/etc/rc at system startup in multiuser mode
/etc/rc.shutdown at system shutdown
